FARMER
Richard P. Farmer, Jr. (ParFarmer) is a healthcare advocate, social media influencer, fitness model, and community leader committed to promoting healthy living, personal development, and positive impact within his fraternity and community. Born and raised in New Haven, CT, Richard relocated to Boston in 1996 to attend Wentworth Institute of Technology. In the fall of 1998, he pledged Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., Beta Alpha Chapter, beginning a lifelong journey of service, leadership, and brotherhood.
Following his higher education, Richard joined the Board of Registration in Medicine, where he currently serves as the Licensing Manager. His professional career in healthcare administration has complemented his passion for health and wellness and strengthened his commitment to advocating for healthier lifestyles.
Richard's fitness journey began in 2002, at the age of 24, when he was encouraged to step into a gym for the first time. That decision changed his life forever. He transformed from a naturally lean physique into a muscular and well-defined build, discovering not only the physical benefits of strength training, but also the attention that came with it…and he liked it. Over the years, fitness became more than a personal pursuit — it became a platform through which Richard could inspire and advocate for healthy living among others. Driven by this passion, Richard became involved with the International Health & Wellness Committee of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. While proud of the committee's positive impact, he wanted to do more. In 2024, he came up with the Strongest Sigma Challenge, an initiative designed to identify the strongest brother in the fraternity while simultaneously encouraging members to prioritize physical fitness, wellness, and men's health.
Today, Richard continues to expand his impact through fitness and wellness. He serves as a Fitness Court Trainer for the National Fitness Campaign and is currently pursuing certification as a Certified Personal Trainer. Through his advocacy, leadership, and commitment to fitness, Richard lives by a simple philosophy: "Showing is proving.”
